Columbian Sensation - Johanna Ortiz

Today's post is about a certain fashion designer who has taken the fashion industry by storm. Some of you may have have still not heard of her & some are already going gaga over her designs but let me tell you her collections are already selling like hot cakes. Meet Johanna Ortiz.

                                     JOHANNA ORTIZ

Ortiz was born in Cali, Columbia & studied fashion at the Art Institute Of Fort Lauderdale & Parsons School Of Design. She returned home to design beautiful clothing & launched her extraordinary label in 2001 but she rose to fame only in 2014 when she launched her SS15 collection 'Nativa' at Columbiamoda (Columbian Fashion Week)

She describes her label in three words - FEMININE, FESTIVE & EFFORTLESSLY ELEGANT. I couldn't agree more !!! Her drapes are the epitome of feminity, a balance between sexy & conservative in terms of skin show. Voluminous structures, flounce, ruffles, off shoulders, big billowy sleeves, deconstructed shirts are a part of her signature style & now they are so much in fashion that it's impossible to attend an event where you wouldn't spot women wearing either her label or the many high street versions of it.

Ortiz on the other hand has always admired French women & how they make menswear look so chic. On holidays she loves to raid her husband's suitcase & wear her his button down shirts. You will spot a lot of her popular deconstructed & billowy
shirts in her collections.

Ortiz with her models

What makes her stand out from the crowd is that she tries every outfit that she makes because she believes models look good in everything but it's important for her to see what her outfits look like on normal women. She also believes that a woman's shoulders and legs are her sexiest features but  very short, tight fitted dresses are her pet peeves.

It's tough for me to choose a favourite. Clearly I want them all !!! Despite of being such feminine drapes there is something immensely powerful about them. If you haven't come across her collections as yet I'd suggest you do that right away ladies.

                                                             Stay stylish. Love, Jess !!!
